Newbie Sleeve Done 11/27

So here I am 4 days post op & I feel like I am in way over my head. I'm having a hard time just getting in Water. I am due to start Protein Shakes tomorrow. I would love any advice for someone new. Also, how much are people moving to prevent blood clots?

Water was very hard for me I had to stop ( my doc said its normal a lot of people have trouble with water) and I drink Powerade zero or gateorade. I was told not to worry about getting my Protein in the first week but just try to get fluids in to keep hydrated. You may also want to try pedialyte popcicles they were my savior! I am a little over 3 weeks out now and still have them since I do not get all my fluids in.

As for walking.. to be honest I stopped after I got home which was i think 5 days after surgery and I mainly walked because of the gas pains but they were gone in about 2 days.

Are you able to check with your doctor to see what he/she recommends?

I checked with my Dr. They said I HAD TO get my Water down. That if I couldn't get the required water in that I would need to be hospitalized. They also said that I should be walking for 10 minutes of every hour. That just doesn't seem reasonable to me. I might be able to do the treadmill at the gym once day for 30 minutes, but they are being insistent. It's really making me nervous that I might get dehydrated or get a blood clot. :(

Are you sitting/laying down all day? Are you getting up reasonably often to get a drink, use the restroom or just change rooms? I think they just want to make sure you aren't sleeping or sitting 24/7.. I don't know. I don't think it needs to be strenuous, just moving.

Get you a small glass so you have to refill it more often :) that will get you up. Change rooms when you are watching tv or reading. The more you move the easiest it gets to move.

I was sleeved 11/28. I'm at home, drinking Clear liquids well. I'm just so darn sore, ESP. At the belly button incision. I'm taking levison as needed to help get the liquids in easier. The shoulder pain is unreal as well.

As far as moving, I think as long as you are not laying all day it's good. Can only do what you can do, ya know?

Good luck!

I was sleeved 11/28. I was actually sent home on blood thinner shots I administer once a day at night for 2 weeks. He said all his patients get that. I'm having ALOT of trouble getting my fluids in. I was already at hospital 2 days after discharge for an iv and I might need to go back again tomorrow. I am trying so hard but never enough:( pain is almost gone now so in happy for that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
