Have A Cigarette ?

Recommended Posts

I should hope not, but I am frigg'en out with anxieties here from time to time being a late quiter pre-op.

A doctor told me today if you hadn't quit 6 weeks prior to a major surgery then they don't usually ask you to but added she would not ever discourage some one who has quit to go ahead and start again. Gee's louise ! wt*, I wanted one as soon as I left but did not. Quit 4 days coming up and that will be 3 weeks before date for surgery, I don't want to afterwards either but I keep thinking how stress is going to be at a later date too.

Also quit several past years before ranged from 6 months to 1 year, longest was 2 yr 4 mth 2001 to 2003+1/2.

I quit almost 4 weeks prior to surgery and everything went great! Just stay strong...I know it hard. Now that my mind is focused on something else it's not nearly as difficult. In fact I really don't ever think about smoking which is so different from all the other times I quit. You got this!!

Thanks mrs. Mom, I'm glad to hear that you don't feel that craving now so much as I am imageing that could be and also that you only did 4 weeks too.

Congrats on your recent surgery, I read the history in your profile. I hope all is well for you at this point, you must be just starting to get around better and do stuff I guess.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
