Post Op Rash? Hormones?

Recommended Posts

I had a reaction to surgical tape after my sleeve surgery. It was hot and blistery. So, I've been taking Benadryl and antibiotics and this area is starting to slowly clear. 6 days post op now.

Anyway, now I developed a rash on both arms and both legs. I had a similar rash after I had my daughter that was due to the post pregnancy hormone shift. Has anyone else had this? I know there is sometimes a hormone shift after WLS and was wondering If this might be the reason. It looks and feels the same as my post pregnancy rash.

I used caladryl clear on my rash, but it wasn't on my stomach. I had blisters on my tummy shortly after surgery from the tape they used. Benadryl and air exposure worked for that.

It's more difficult to know what to do when it's on the tummy. I'd call your doc. Do you still have your incisions covered? My initial problem with redness then blisters, was a reaction to the tape they covered it with. Then I tried steri strips and got the same response. I don't react if I use these on my arm or hand, but I blister on my stomach.

Hope all turns out well for you.

I have a similar problem! My tummy itches like mad. I didn't have any plasters or anything on my tummy so I know it's not that...strange x

If you're having a reaction to the surgical tape and OTC cream isn't working, visit your primary care doctor. They can prescribe you something for that.

Happened to me too! And now I have scabs from all the scratching

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
