Not All Sleevers Eat 500 Cals A Day For The Rest Of Their Lives!

Recommended Posts

My surgeon told me that my body will find the weight it wants and that I will never be a skinny person unless I become a fitness fanatic. I'll always, according to my surgeon, be a bit chubby. And that' s fine with me. As long as I have good health, being a bit chubby is just fine. I have class 1 obesity and am hoping to get a a target weight somewhere close to guidelines - but losing enough to get off blood pressure/cholesterol medication and eliminate the risk of diabetes would be sufficient for me. I'm not an athlete, never will be. I don't need to look like a fashion model to be happy in life.

As you know, SoS, I eat very similarly to you! I did lose down to "goal", which I didn't know what to pick as a goal anyhow LOL. And even though I'm in a size 6-8, I still take crap sometimes for eating too much or not reaching goal, cos I didn't reach my stretch goal. Not sure I need to get there, I'm pretty small already. Plus I am fine to eat 2000 per day and not gain at all and feel healthy and eat a wide variety of food. I do eat full-fat everything, I just don't eat wheat or most other grains, so my carbs are usually pretty low just cos of that, not cos I'm paranoid of carbs per se. I do eat faux sweeteners, but only cos I genuinely prefer them. :D

Congrats, you look just lovely!!! :-)

Just wondering why it is that you avoid wheat? I will say it again I am so happy to hear that you all are leading normal lives in regards to diet. Sometimes no most of the time it feels like I'm never going to be able to 2-3 bites of food before I'm full.....

So I am 15 months post-op.....

Just thought I would share my experiences and what life is like for me as a sleever in maintenance. I made my weight loss goal ( a very modest goal in fact...) at about 8 months out. So I have maintained my weight loss with ease for the last 7 months. I chose a higher goal than many sleevers for several reasons....

1.) easier to maintain

2.) no lose skin. That's right people, I have no lose skin, my butt is still round and the girls are still perky!

3.) I am normal, curvy healthy and average. That's all I ever wanted!

4.) I wear normal sizes. I am in a 12 and as a nurse I wear medium scrub tops and large bottoms. I LOVE BEING NORMAL. (preop I was in 2x and 24s)

I don't really care that my BMI is not "normal" it never will be, I am happy and healthy. My surgeon and primary agree I am in a great spot.

So what do I eat? a typical day is about 2000 calories. I was eating 1400 a day for weight loss.... I got up to 1000 cals as soon as I could post op so I wouldn't tank my metabolism. I don't eat low fat anything, I don't drink diet anything, no sugar free toxic crap. I eat small and healthy amounts everything. I have a vanilla latte everyday.I eat cheese at least twice a day. I eat lots of fruit and veggies and of course Protein. I go out to eat, have dessert a few times per week. I eat like a healthy, normal person.

I still have started a real workout routine at the gym... I have a fairly physical job as a nurse and I take the dog for walks all the time, I plan to workout at the gym this winter for health purposes.

All in all my point is.... I am so happy I was sleeved!!

below is a before and after.....:-)post-11925-1381366077068_thumb.jpg post-11925-13813660771438_thumb.jpg

Love it love it love it!!! Sounds GREAT!!!!

........

I don't need to ear 500 calories and be miserable to lose weight (and for the record - I was seriously miserable). It felt like another crash diet. What I'm doing now I can maintain as a lifestyle change forever!

Took the words right out of my mouth.

This made me really curious since I know sizes then are not comparable to sizes today.

http://www.snopes.co...rs/mmdress.asp

I know I'm probably being a stick in the mud, but I like digging for facts.

Although you can tell just by looking at her that she was not what today would say is a size 14 or 16, according to the article she was a size 8 most of her career, which is a far cry from the size 0 or even 00 that models of today are! I love her body and her curves! Just like Robyn Lawley, Ralph Lauren's first "plus" size model...she is a size 12 and stunning!!

This is an awesome thread. I was sleeved nov. 6th, so I'm very new. Just trying to get my liquids and Protein in at this point. I, too, don't want to starve. Just want to run and play with my 7 grandsons (all under age 10). I must be able to eat in restaurants when this is all healed cause my Italian hubby is a real foodie. It will be so cool to be satisfied with a small portion and have leftovers for lunch! Congrats to all ahead of me in this process.

Sleeve of Steel....just wondering if you still have Protein Shakes at all? Do you track your Protein or are you pretty much just back to a normal way of eating, taking the bulk of your protein from regular food?

SoS, everyone on this site needs to see this post. THANK YOU for this. I think I MIGHT have done 500 Cal/day my first week post op. 500 cal made me sad, mean, weak, and just miserable. It's inhumane!! LOL! You're stunning just the way you are...curvy and happy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
