When Did You Do Your Hospital Pre-Op/registration

Recommended Posts

My day is on Oct.29 at 10:00 a.m. I was told to go about a week or so before my day so I went on Oct 17th to reg. and do the pre-op stuff my doctors office had already sent over my info ...they did blood work , EKG , urine, and ask questions about past surgeries and if I had any problems with anesthesia then I was given info on what to do the night before and where to check in and where to park. This is all i had to do. If your day is close call you dr office to confirm on what to do and where to go.. Getting all this done before makes checking in a little smoother. Good luck

Are you talking about pre op testing/ pre admission testing?? if so, i went in did a breathing test to insure i can be put under ok, then i went and had an ekg dont and blood work and answered some questions with the nurses, meet with the PA for my surgeon and answered some of her questions, then I met with my dr who has been my pcp since feb also the dr who clears u for surgery. after that i sat through two classes one was what its going to be like the day i come to the hospital and the stay there, next class was a dietitian class on how ill be eating following surgery. lots of information!!! and they took my $ that I have to pay for surgery which was my out of pocket for insurance.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
