Hi I was banded in Fisher IN by Dr McEwan on 9/20. For about the first 11 days post-op I felt like I had eaten a 10 course meal after sips of clear Fluid, and had nasty heartburn. I stopped taking my pills for about 5 days and felt much better. I progressed to cream Soup and V8 yesterday, today I purreed some (apro 1/4 c) carrots, and a couple tbsp of pork and was able to tolerate that, but feel very, very full again. But no heartburn and have been able to take my meds for 2 days now. I started at 243lbs on consult day, surgery day was 228lb, and according to my scale am 216lb today- 2 weeks post-op. My goal is to get below 200 by Christmas. Post op I have been very tired and sleeping alot:notagree , but I am always tired so I expected that. Go for my post-op apt Thursday. Keep strong, follow the plan. Back to work on Friday.... :grouphug: I turn 40 soon, what a fabulous birthday gift!

Good for you. :welcome:

Don't be surprised when all of a sudden you realise you can eat without restriction. The first week you are just so swollen..it's not the band you feel. Your weight will probably plateau now until your first fill. That's the boat I'm in now but my Dr. warned me so I'm not flipping out when the scale no longer is moving. I'm trying very hard to follow the post-op diet.

Happy Birthday!! :grouphug: This is the best gift you ever gave yourself.:biggrin1:

Hi and congratulations on your lapband! Remember, right now is a time for healing. Like swanny said, from here on until you are filled, you may find that you do not lose much. The band is not meant to work without a fill, and very few people are able to obtain good restriction until they have had at least one or two fills. And, many people (myself included :) ) experience a gain between getting their band and their first fill. But, don't be discouraged. I promise that once you get those fills and reach proper restriction, the weight will start coming off and you will love your band.

Dr. McEwan is such an awesome Dr, you are lucky! I was to be banded by him but I lost my insurance battle:( I did however find a fantastic alternative and also joined bandland on the 27th.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
