I made my deposit today for 2/21/13. Now that it is done' date=' I thought I would feel better but now I am really nervous. As far as you worried about your deposit, I have my reciept of deposit and their confirmation (and a copy because I am neurotic) for reference!

18 1/2 weeks to go! I hope this goes faster than I think it is.[/quote']

Congrats! Who is doing your surgery? And did you mail your deposit or do it over the phone? I have a million questions and worries lol

I just emailed Janese AGAIN! Haha this time I was asking why Aceves and Alvarez were so much more than doctors like Lopez and Garcia. I read a comment earlier on here about leaks and I want to be 100% certain that I go with a great surgeon. I don't have any insurance, so if I get the surgery and have all these complications, I'm going to be in a lot of trouble. :/

I am thinking about going in March during spring break (if I have the money)! I am considering Dr. Garcia and Dr. Kelly, but more so Dr. Garcia because of his special. I am nervous and excited at the same time.

Spring here too. 3/11/13. I'm using 401k and a little ITR. I'm 99% sure I'm using A Lighter Me - Dr. Lopez/Dr. Osuna husband/wife team. They specialize in higher BMI/risk.

And what's kind of depressing to me is I have a terrible support system. I told my Mom that they went ahead and put me on the schedule for March, and all I heard was negative comments. My sister said she was going to laugh at my funeral because she "told me so." (she's only 12, but still) the guy I've been dating briefly said "it's your money." I never once heard "That's wonderful!" or "I'm so glad you are taking control over your health!" it really depresses me.

Their negativity, I'm sure is out of concern. My support system is concerned but supportive. Reluctantly. Do what feels right and feel confident with it. Either way.

That's true. They just don't know anything about it at all. They have their opinions of what the surgery consists of, too bad it's all wrong :/

My dad and I have agreed not to talk about it. He really lit into me. It is an off limits subject. I would never tell you what is the right or wrong choice for you. Only you know that. I only hope you have success and good health either way. If you're going I hope to see you there! If you don't I truly hope you find a solution that works for you.

Trying inviting your mom to see your PCP to discuss questions and concerns. Follow up care. Maybe your coordinator can talk to her too?. Maybe that will help you both?

Empowering yourself and your support system with knowledge will make whichever choice you decide on better for all of you. Don't let anyone bully you into doing it or not doing it! :-)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
