Finally Frustrates Enough To Post About It

I'm soooo familiar with all the stalls. I am. Logically I do understand but here's my whiny story. Lost 14 pounds in one week and haven't lost a pound since. I'm almost to 3 weeks. I know that is great to lost that much - I do. Buttttttt I do weigh myself daily (if I don't I would get so upset at the shock no loss if I waited)- and I hardly take in 500-600 calories. How in te world is that even physically possible to hold steady for that long?

Just frustrated and want to see the scale move. After living on a very select few foods- My brain just wants to eat badly (and I wont) as why the heck not if the darn scale isn't moving anyway.

Ok- got that off my chest with people that understand. Thanks for any support :).

Go for it!

I walk minimally and no release from doc to lift yet which Id rather do. Im such a whiner!

Are you exercising and drinking a lot of water? Maybe you're retaining fluid or gaining muscle if you're exercising. Hang in there! Maintaining is better than gaining.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I thought I was the only person in the world that could have WLS then not lose in the 2nd week. Yea! I'm not alone! My dr said to stay the course.

The exact same thing happened to me. 20 pounds in ten days then 2 1/2 weeks and not one pound lost. It just seem physiologically how could this be. 3500 calories is a pound. If we eat 1500 calories less a day and exercise we should easily drop 3-5 pounds a week. Not me! Went almost 3 weeks without a loss, but at least now at five weeks I started losing again.

Same story...week one lost around 7 kgs and zilch after that....im 18 days out...stalled since 11-12 days....i know we should not let the scale rule us...but it sooooo does....im a slave to it....maybe because my sleeve is so new...i just hope d damn scale movessss ...and soon!!

Justine, the same thing happened to me but what helps is eating a wide variety of foods and 6 small half cup meals per day. You should not be counting calories starving yourself thinking you will lose more weight that way. Our bodies don't work like that. The less we eat the more likely your body is to hold onto it. The most important thing is to have professional help from a dietician until you are confident in your eating. I am 7 weeks post op and have had a couple of stalls, but they disappear when I am more vigilant about eating more. Good luck

Wow, you could eat a 1/2cup at 3-4weeks post op? I could only handle about 2oz of dense Proteins. Maybe 1/2cup of cottage cheese or something.

I can eat half cup and have been. I eat pretty much same things: tomato Soup with melted cheese, refried Beans with melted cheese and cottage cheese. I take almost an hour to eat and have never felt "stuffed" because I have an agreement with myself never to puke ( I HATE PUKING). During this last week I had shredded pork and put it in a blender and that was only a few bites- probabaly closer to your 2 ounces. Maybe it's the type of food?

BTW- my stall broke. I'm down 6 More pounds from the stall and continue to lose :). I have such a long way to go though. My clothes fit so much better. I have to admit that I can't wait until I go down a size. Even that seems unattainable :(

Quite honestly- that will not happen. The scale keeps me motivated and there is not way in hell at this weight that I'm healthy. Well actually I AM healthy by all labwork and always have been but am at a major risk. For me it's not insanity - it helps me stay focused. What I do agree with' date=' though, is maybe picking a day and just weighing on that day. That's hard too but I will try. Thank you for your post.

Me too! I wish I didn't - it's not a good thing. I weigh myself constantly. I wish I could take the scale away from me. Who am I trying to kid? I would buy a new one ;)

There's a group of us that weigh in on Saturdays, you are welcome to join us.

Is that the Saturday morning weigh in group I see? I like to weigh in on Wed because my surgery was on Wed :) thank you for the offer. Maybe I will anyway :)

Yes, I did one week liquid, 2 weeks puree, 1 week soft food, then from week 4 normal food. I still stuck to softer things initially, but yes i get 6 x 1/2 cup eals per day. Lots of variety including dairy, fats, grainy foods, fruit, light vege, starchy vege and Protein. If we don't eat that often even in small amounts we won't get the nutrition we need and will get sick over time. We would also get tired. Takes a bit or forethought and some days I only get 5 serves in as I forget to eat, but overall its working well.

I weigh daily, but it doesn't drive me crazy. I know myself, when I don't weigh daily, it is the beginning of my weight denial phase. I have a long history of losing and regaining and I know exactly how that "regain" cycle feels and I just don't allow it. Weigh everyday, no stretchy waist bands, no excuses.

As far as the stalls - yeah, how annoying! It is sometimes helpful to think of monthly goals and look at the daily ups and downs, including stalls, as just that. Stay focused on a longer term horizon if you can!

Justine, glad to hear your stall has broken. Do you eat any fruit, grainy bread, Pasta, rice, fats like oliive oil, nuts, avocado or vege? Variety is good and will give you energy and nutrition. Maybe start adding one new thing each day???
