Come read through some of the September Bandsters thread. This will give you a great insight into what those of us recently banded are going through. I was banded 12 days ago and feel great. Took pain meds for 1 day, then tylenol for another day. Smooth sailing ever since.

Good luck!

From what I am gathering here, the surgery is the easy part! I am scheduled for surgery on the 9th and when I had my gallbladder removed, laproscopically, I was great after a couple of days, so I don't think it will be too bad this time either. I am just waiting for the day!

Sam, I will tell you not to be nervous but I think we all probably were, but there really is no reason to be. Everything will be fine. I have childern older than you and never had to have any pain meds and was out walking on my second day out. This band is wonderful if you will work with it. I am five months out tomorrow and only 20 pounds from goal.

Dear Tiredepot,

I was banded on august 23rd. I am a big baby and do not tolerate pain very well. For three days after my surgery I was in big time pain. I felt bloated and had tons of gas, along with my body refusing to let any of it go. The one think that saved me and made me feel better was my walking my dog. He got walked more than ever. He was happy. Everyday the more I walked the better I felt. I would say 2 weeks after I started to feel normal again. The feeling of nervousness is normal. The other thing that kept me going was thinking about the future results of losing weight and my future new body that the lap band would help me achieve. Good luck on your banding and remember this board is a great source of help and information. You will also find a great source of support here.

Belle

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
