Don't Think I'm Ever Going To See 30 Lbs?

Recommended Posts

I know there have/are alot of posts about stalls., but I'm starting to get worried? I am 2 months post op today. I walk 3 miles 3 days a week and do aerobics 2 days a week for 3 weeks now....Here are my daily stats: Calories-between 800-900 daily, Protein 70 grams, at least 64 oz of Fluid and 40 grams of carbs...I have been "playing" with 2 lbs now for over 2 weeks., lost 26 lbs as of 2 weeks ago, and gained 2 lbs back a day later, and I have been fighting with just these 2 lbs! I have lost 30 1/2 inches., which has gotten me from size 20 to size 18 jeans and 1X shirt to a XL shirt....I'm extremely frustrated., and oh, BTW...i am totally obsessed with the scale, I know I know., get rid of it for a week at a time., I see soooo many others whom have hit at least 30 lbs same day as my surgery...should I up the calories or lower them or change something else? Any feedback would be awesome!

I'm two months post op and down 40 lbs. I'm just coming out of my second stall. Last week I battled 3 lbs. up and then down. Didn't switch up anything except excercised more. people keep telling me that muscle weighs more than fat so that could be it. You could be building muscle and losing inches. It will catch up eventually. Give it a chance. Good Luck.....

you are very welcome. and p.s. I am obsessed with the scale also. Not a good thing. My doctor told me if I don't stop weighing myself 5 to 6 times a day he's going to recommend I see a therapist. So now I'm down to about 1 to 2 times a day. I working toward 1 times a week.

I think there is something about that 30 lbs that makes the body freaks out. I was stuck at 29 lbs for two weeks. Finally it started moving on the 3rd week. There is no way in the world with all the wonderful things you are doing that the scale will not move. It is not possible. Hang in there...you WILL lose!!!

I am 7 wks out and obsessed with the scale, too, but looking at it every day is just going to keep your mind on the negaitves and damper your spirits. STOP IT! :P

All of our bodies are different, and we truly can't compare to one another (although I'm guilty of trying).

I, too, hit a 2 week stall where I didn't lose. It sucked!!!! I'm 7 weeks out now and just got back from my surgeons for my periodic review. I've recently had several weeks of 0-2 lbs lost, but today I learned I lost 8 lbs the past 5 days! It comes in spurts and you just have to work through it. I'm now at 30lb lost post surgery / 50lb lost total.

In regards to calories, I do not keep up with mine to the tee, but I estimate I'm only getting 600-800 daily. Where do yours come from? One thing I had to do (which I firmly believe helped) is replace juices (use with meds) with V8 Splash Light, which I believe helped.

Good luck on hitting the 30 lb mark- you WILL do it!!!!

I'm in a stall and weigh too much as well. Trying to quit it but it's hard, you want to see the scales go down sooooo badly it's hard to quit...

The stalls are fairly normal and happen to everyone. No exceptions. It is the body adjusting to the weight loss by moving things around and rehydrating your muscles with Water to support stored glycogen. The stall will naturally take care of itself and usually be followed by a good drop on the scale. On my first stall I decided to try and break it by hiking on a pretty extreme, stair master type hike (2000 feet in 1 mile). While I did break my stall, I do not think it was because of the hike ( stall was already going on 3 weeks) and I ended up overdoing it. I spent the next week recovering and not being able to walk very well. And I had to cool it on even the normal exercises. And I got extremely dehydrated and thought I needed to go to the ER even before I finished the hike. And I have hiked all sorts of challenging hikes since a child. The point is that extreme measures for breaking a stall are not worth it.mbeing patient would have saved me the 1 week recovery time.

I don't really pay attention to the scales any longer and weigh in about once a week. I have found it much better to focus on how you feel, how clothes are fitting, getting adequate sleep, getting adequate rest, keeping stress low, being happy and more. Sure I was not always like this, but have found life and work much more enjoyable if you just let go and not stress about things that are out of my control.

I used to think exercising like a fanatic led to better results, but ultimately it did not because my diet was all wrong and it put stress on my body because I did it so often. I do still exercise, but I do it out of enjoyment and best of all, for me. One of the exercises I enjoy the most is walking my dog for 1+ hours. It is not real intense (some hills, a little brisk), but it helps me relax with nature, fresh air, listening to the birds, etc. And my dog loves it.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
