The Wait Will Drive Me Nutso!

So, my paperwork was submitted to Aetna last Friday! I called this morning just to make sure they received it, and they verified that they did. Of course it's "being reviewed".

Not sure I can stand the anticipation!!! I'm preoccupied with it and have accomplished nothing at work today. I vacillate wildly between excited glee (I'll be approved!!!) and crushing disappointment (I'll surely be denied!).

I keep trying to distract myself to no avail!

I'm in the exact same boat! Submitted last Thursday, and it's all I can think about! Good luck to you!!!

My papers went out to Federal BCBS last Friday at 2pm. Trying to saty busy and positive. Started a pre-pre-op diet today to start getting used to full liquids only. A little torturous. I had a shake for morning, a shake for lunch, then i had a few shrimp , then some roasted chicken for dinner. I hope I can do this. hope to hit the gym tomorrow, at lunchtime. Tempted to call insurance, but won't drive myself nuts. From what other fed bcbs sleevers have said, I should know by weeks end, fingers crossed

Seriously, it's ALL I can think of!!!

My experience with approval through federal BCBS was quick. They told me on the phone in the morning it could take up to 30 days for approval and called me early afternoon to tell me I was approved. Don't know if it was all my comorbities or what. The patient advocate that called me said she hadn't ever seen it happen so quickly. I pictured them thinking, yes yes yes let's fix this girl she is costing us wayyy too much money. Hope you have an answer real soon!!

I pray u all have a quick turn around!!! Mine was less than 8 hours but my expectation was a week at least. I don't think there is any rhyme or reason!!

Sleen chica. I have the same insurance. Hope mine turns around soon

I am sure u will here something soon!!!! Did u call to make sure they have EVERYTHING?

I heard back from regular BCBS about a week after my paperwork was submitted. They are even setting me up with a dietician afterwards. Hope you get the good news soon!

Checked again last Friday and it's still pending.

I'm starting to get really nervous about denial...

I know exactly how you are feeling. I just went through this and finally got approved Tuesday. It took two weeks for my approval. I think i gained 10 pounds while waiting. I hope you get approved soon!

I was approved last week, after a near fail. Because I have a less than 40 Bmi, I And a comorbidity, they scutinize the paperwork more. I called to check and the insurance person ( not a nurse) insisted my file was incomplete and said I need 2 co morbidities ( not on the plan brochure) 2 years weight history( questionable since my co morbidity trumps that)which would have been difficult since i am not the most compliant and go to the doctor"officially" very infrequently, luckily my Pcp did state my obesity has been decades long in his letter of medical necessity, and some other things that had already been submitted. I insisted on talking to a nurse that actually approves these things. She agreed I had met all the requirements and approved on the spot. Picked my heart up and put it back in my chest.

Arghhhh! I can't even submit to Aetna until November 17th! It's already killing me!

The insurance specialist at my surgeon's office will be resubmitting my paperwork to Aetna. I was denied last week on silly technicalities which could have been easily handled. My original surgery date was 9/27, but now. I am hoping for an October or early November surgery date. I was going to appeal but that takes 45-60 days, so I decided to jump through some more hoops to try to get approved.

Good luck to you all.
