Support Person Or Not?

I'm trying to decide if I will need a support person to stay with me the first week and while at the hospital. My hubby has to work and now that I told my Mom she wants to come help me. Any thoughts?

  • no matter how big (as in grown up) you are, you will always be your momma's baby.. lol and she lubs you and wants to take care of you. it's sweet!

  • i would let her. if nothing else, at least you'll get to spend some time with her & you will look back on that when she's gone & be glad you took the opportunity to spend that time with her.

i would let her. :) if nothing else, at least you'll get to spend some time with her & you will look back on that when she's gone & be glad you took the opportunity to spend that time with her. :) a lot of people on here didn't or don't have anybody to help or support them, but the fact that your mom wants to come help & support you is awesome. :)

I liked having someone at the hospital, when I came out. They did not stay long that first day to let me rest. 2nd day they were there off and on for the same reason. 3rd day I gotta go home. My other half took a week off to just help around. It was nice because then I did not have to cook or clean LOL......... but really he was a big help. I did have my gallbladder out so I was in a little more pain, it was nice to have him help me in and out of the shower. It is what you think you might need! Dont over do it, I learned the hard way!

I would say you're going to need help. My husband was with me around the clock the first four days . Your weak and sore and for some (I was) in pain . I consider myself to be a pretty tough woman (3) 8.5 kids with no meds , breast reduction used no pain meds but this surgery was difficult and I NEEDED the help.

its hard to get up and down it definitely is nice to have someone to help you it's not as easy the first week i know it wasn't for me but i also had a hernia repair so i was in a lot of pain..... but the help is always wonderful....i also agree with nyxa its nice to have mom around i know i loved it my mom and older sister were awesome and i love them n appreciate them so much more helping me at my worst....

Thank you all for the advice! Vixkey, I am also having a hernia repair at the same time-so I left the decision in my Mom's court, I don't want her to feel obligated, as she is coming from Florida to Illinois. But I do think I will need somebody-and the selections are thin here at home!

Nothing to think about, your support is there.
