What Im I Suppose To Feel

Recommended Posts

Feeling full for me feels the same as feeling full before surgery. When I have one bite too many it's super painful (but I'm a pain wuss).

If I have eaten to much I feel full even in my throat. Kinda like nothing else will go down.

When I feel full, my stomach feels heavy and uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel like I want to vomit but I try not to go to that dark place. I don't like that feeling.

When I'm "full" I'm ok....the problem is "OVERfull"!! When I've had as little as one nibbly bite too much my chest (like behind my sternum) starts to HURT...it becomes difficult to take in a deep breath...it feels like there is food filling my esophagus...I start burping non-stop...it's extremely uncomfortable, and can last as long as an hour or 90 minutes. I try to avoid the feeling as much as possible by taking small bites, and eating very slowly. A "comfortable full" feels much the same as before surgery. But now I find I miss that point very easily if I don't eat slowly (to give my body the time it needs to recognize that it's full)...because it really is as little as one bite between "omfortable full" and "I want to die OVERfull"!! Best of luck!

I am two weeks out. I have not gotten sick once, when I am full I hiccup once, I never used to but I am glad my body is telling me when I am full. Maybe try closing your eyes and trying to listen and feel what your body is telling you. That sounds weird, but it has been working for me. Good luck to you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
