2 Day Post Op - Nursing

I was able to come home today. I'm still battling nausea here and there.

I have 2 kids and my youngest is still nursing (yes, my surgeon is aware and very supportive). I have been having issues nursing him because he wiggles around so much. He already ran into one of my incision sites and it hurt like holy heck. Aside from a straight jacket, I don't know what else to do in this sensitive time. The pump and I are not good friends.

I am also battling changes in taste. My favorite Protein Shake tastes disgusting to me and I'm only 2 days out! Could it be the medication? I'm having problems drinking them every few hours and I'm really dragging my feet. I ordered unjury, but I have to wait for it to get here. I'm currently drinking EAS edge carb control. Any recommendations? Even my favorite juices taste too different for me to enjoy. I can't wait to be past this stage, but I'm struggling now! Any thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

Are your shakes the RTD or is it powder. If it's powder that you blend I would suggest adding a chrystal light individual drink mix to your shake or some sugar free Torani Syrup (I like raspberry) and see if that helps.

I liked the muscle milk light!

I have RTD. I like the idea of mixing the powder. I will give that a try!

As for nursing, how old is your baby? Football hold? Can you swaddled still? I hope you can keep going. You'll feel better in a couple days. Maybe put a pad (like heating pad not turned on) between you and baby?

He is 10.5 months old now. He is about 21 lbs now. I could never keep him swaddled. He always found a way out. I really like your idea about a pad. I tried a pillow but it kept getting in the way and he would just start swatting at it. It was easier at the hospital because of the way the bed propped us. It was perfect! I wanted to bring the bed home with me lol. Thank you for the encouragement.

maybe you should think about bottle feeding for a week, just until your incisions heal :(
