Coming Together Really Quick Now....

Recommended Posts

So yesterday I met with the surgeon - I have my Psych Eval on Thursday - Nutrionist appointment on Monday - labs, EKG and chest x-ray next Wednesday - submit to insurance next Friday. Wow!

If insurance approves quickly enough I could possibly be on the surgery table by mid-September. Craziness!

Anybody else have it go so very fast like this once your PCP monthly meetings were met? I am scared but excited to start a new life.

Mid-September - That will be here before you know it !

I didn't have PCP monthly meetings, but once the ball got rolling on getting stuff done, it didn't stop, it was a crazy rush of medical appointments and emotions. Before you know it you will be on the other side watching the pounds drop off =)

Hang in there - and if you're the type that likes to journal and then eventually look back, keep a log of how you're feeling. I'm only 3 weeks out and it's already interesting to look back and see how things have changed already. I can't imagine what it will be like to read back through what I've written once I'm a year out and see how truly far I've come. Plus, I'm hoping reading through all my excitement will jump start my enthusiasm if I get down during stall weeks.

Oh yes, my first appt was late October and they wanted to do surgery late November and then early December. I had to wait till beginning of Feb to get the time off I needed. Best of luck for a speedy approval!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
