First 20 Pounds Update:)

Recommended Posts

Well I told myself I'd put an update every 20 pounds, which will happen 5 times hopefully so here is number one:) I have lost 20 pounds in a little over a month!!!! WOW WOW WOW! I know that weightloss is going to slow down but im cool with that. My goal is to lose about 12 a month, I think that is reasonable. Surgery was offically 5 1/2 weeks out and it feels like it has been way longer than that. I am down from an 18 to a 16, i am on full foods no problem and I am trying to walk everyday. I really need to start weight training because I do not want saggy arms and i have a feeling I am going to. I know my stomach and boobs are going to sag because they all ready do now...but I can cover that up-but my arms ugh I don't want to keep the bat wings:( Well see how it goes tho! My next goal is only 9 pounds away because that is ONEderland!! Woot woot! I have realized that carbs and the true ENEMY for me! I am only supposed to have 50 carbs MAX a day and one day I ate grits almost all day and realized I had consumed 122g of carbs in one day! Needless to say the next day i had GAINED one pound so word to the wise, don't forget to look at your labels, seriously! Thats my advice for the week:P Hope everyone is doing well!

Way to go. I wish you many more updates.

BTW...it's not the carbs...it's the starches. bread, potatoes, corn, Pasta...and yes, grits....all starches. They are high on the glycemic index. They elevate your blood sugar, causing your body to release insulin. When that happens, your body wants to store what you eat as fat, even though you are trying to burn the calories. You end up gaining weight and having less energy because the calories aren't being burned. It's a double whammy. Yes you need to focus on taking in Protein at this stage. But as you get farther out from surgery, don't be afraid to eat a few carbs if they are low glycemic (green veggies).

Congratulations! I have just lost my first twenty pounds too and it feels great. I have some jeans that are too big and I know I need to give them away...I can't wait until all of my larger size clothes are too big. Once again, Congratulations!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
