Tmi - Tom Or Yeast/bladder Infection?

Recommended Posts

I started TOM last week right before surgery. luckily stopped over weekend. now i'm having spotting but no other symptoms.

I took some medicine yesterday to counter-act the heavy antibiotics that would cause a yeast infection.

Could i have a bladder or other infection caused by the antibiotics? Never had one before and not sure what to do.

If you are only spotting, I think it would be doubtful that you a bladder infection or a yeast infection. Plenty of people have odd cycles right after surgery. Your hormones go through a major flux. I spotted within days after surgery and again about two weeks later.

What meds did you take to counteract the yeast infection? Was it an oral Rx? If so, it is probably even less likely you have a yeast infection. Yeast infections often cause itching/burning/soreness in your vaginal area. You will often have a vaginal discharge as well.

Did you have a bladder catheter during surgery? If yes, it is more likely you have a bladder infection. If no, it is doubtful that you have one with all the antibiotics you were given during surgery. Bladder infections tend to make you go to the bathroom more often or an urge to go but little comes out, and you often feel a burning sensation when urinating. Your urine may be cloudy.

Thanks. I'll let TOM run its course instead of goign to doctor. I took 1 oral pill to counteract yeast infection. Hoping that's all i need because this got real irritating real quick.

sorry for TMI.

I had my TOM a couple days before surgery and it lasted TWO+ WEEKS after surgery! Surgery messes with our cycles because our hormones are all out of whack.

I'm six weeks and two days post-op... and it's TOM for the THIRD time since surgery! This time it's going on about 9 days! And I'm on birth control! Yes, the exclamation points mean I'm very upset!!! (Especially considering what my sex drive is right now and I'm sitting here watching the olympics with my ex, who I call "my best ever." Grrr!)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
