Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

  • Popular Post

Let's get to know each other before our surgery...I'll go first. :)

My name is Amy (37 years old). I live in central FL with my husband and two kids, 3 yo DS and 4.5 yo DD. I work in IT doing technical writing and operational readiness. I love photography and have a small side business, and when I'm thinner, I really enjoy running and spinning.

I was banded in Nov 2009 at 374 lbs. From my banding until Dec 2011 (2 years), I lost 198 lbs. I was thrilled! Despite the occasional vomit and inability to eat certain foods, I was still 99.9% happy with my band. Right after Christmas this year, however, I got a terrible upper respiratory infection. I coughed and coughed and coughed. I coughed until I puked, which caused a slip.

I got a complete unfill in early January. Once the slip was fixed, I started getting fills. But then my band developed a leak and slipped once again. Since the surgeon I was seeing was less than helpful, I found a new surgeon, Dr. Domkowski, who finally treated me without acting like I was crazy, as my last surgeon did. Based on his recommendations and test results, we decided to do the removal and sleeve in two separate surgeries.

Dr. D removed my band on August 3, 2012. Because of the extent of damage done by the band, including scarring and pulling the fundus through the diaphragm, I am waiting around four months to be sleeved. I'd love to be banded on November 25, which would have been the three year anniversary of my band.

I've gained about 70 lbs since December. Sigh. The good news is my surgeon is not at all concerned about my weight gain. He is 100% convinced that I'll lose it all once I'm sleeved, since I was so successful with the band. I'm a bit of a goody two-shoes, and I followed the rules to a "T", and I intend to do the same with the sleeve.

I hope the next four months fly by!

I'm a September sleever ;) I wish all of you the best and huge hugs ;)

I was scheduled for Nov 12 and got rescheduled to Nov 30th. I had my preop appt today and because of insurance requirements I have to have my surgery in a hospital instead of an outpatient facility. I was pretty upset when I found out then realized it is just two more weeks. I was ready to start my two week preop diet. I guess I could just start now and lose some extra pounds. But then it is just that much longer on liquids counting the four weeks post op. not sure what to do.

Everyone stay safe in ths crazy weather!

Another sleeve sister yay!!

I'm normal! or rather my ct is. All is well.

Hi Marylanders!

I am a Baltimorian who now lives in New Zealand. I just got my date for my surgery that will be done here in Auckland. My surgery date is November 29, 2012. Yahoo!

.

I pretend I'm five feet. Actually 4'!!., Well over 200 pounds. An ideal weight? No one has said but I'd be thrilled with 120.

I am sooooooooooo happy for you. What a relief. Ainslee

Just got back from my nut appt and they upped my date!! I will be sleeved on nov 4!!!!

Under a week!

Is there anyone out there who is 5 ft tall weighing more than 200? What is ur ideal weight after surgery?

I am not 5 ft tall but I am 61.5 inches ( I shrank I used to be 62.5) My goal is 135-140 and my surgeon agrees with this weight goal I am currently 224.

I start my pre-op tomorrow!!! I still haven't picked the Protein drinks I want to LIVE on for the next 6 weeks. I have some samples to try, I did get all my Vitamins and have some of the Premier shakes as my backup to start.

I think I am still in a state of shock that this is finally going to happen. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I had colitis from some other antibiotics I was on, but since I am not doing bypass and Flagyl has pretty much cleared things up, I got the green light yesterday.

Is anyone else scared???
