I am five days post sleeve. I had a gastric band removed at the same time. Has anyone else out there had this done? Anyhow, my right side feels so swollen and sore. I feel like I can't take a deep breath. My ribs are sore. My Dr. said the band was stuck to my liver and had to be scraped off (ew). I feel hungry but have no desire to eat because it hurts. I am trying to follow the diet as well as I can but the Protein Shakes are hard to choke down. (I wish they made a pill). I stopped taking the pain meds yesterday because it knocks me out.. I could go on but my purpose was not to whine but to seek reassurance that nothing is wrong and I just need to put the time in. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but my doctor did tell me that one of the sides would be more sore because that is where they pull the excess stomach through to remove it. Also, I've had two C sections and a Hysterectomy and I can tell you that you should buy a "stomach belt". Basically it is a really wide stretchy and velcro band that is commonly used for sore backs. But when you wrap that around nice and right, it makes your stomach feel so much better because it creates the effect of "holding everything in". I asked my doctor to be sure I could use it afterwards and he said absolutely. Hope it helps!

I second the wrap. I used an bandage and it made it so much easier to get out of bed and to sit up.

At first it felt like my insides were coming out (due to muscles being cut). I used it for about a week and half (now 11 days post op) and now can get up & down with ease. I think it helped tremendously.

Best wishes!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
