After Surgery - How Long Before You Feel Back To Normal?

Recommended Posts

I want to bring my Grandbabies (ages 5 & 7 ) here to spend some time for the summer... Can you tell me after surgery how long it takes to get my energy and my pep back?

Thanks.

Everyone is different, so it's hard to say. I was 5 weeks out on Monday & got a surge of energy that hasn't gone away yet. I'm finally feeling better than my old self especially since it's easier to do things without the added weight (I've lost 33 lbs since pre-op).

I guess it depends on how much energy you want. I was okay to do things by week 2 or 3, but still did things slowly and still took one or two naps and went to bed early until just this week.

I couldn't agree more with the above answer. 3 weeks minimum. Don't be your worst enemy like I did and not take in enough Water and protein... it is miserable. Best of luck!

Thanks you guys... it all helps... I couldn't remember with the lap band but, it didn't take long, the usual 4-6 weeks and that's what I'm hearing here as well..

Just got a THE call from my Drs. office ... and the surgery is now scheduled for August 9. So, I'm good for the summer... I was just hoping to have it done sooner..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
