Recommended Posts

I'm new to this forum and will be getting my band on Sept 4 with Dr Ortiz..

about 2 weeks ago I had a sinus infection and now I have a cold or really really really bad allergy ... Anyways.. Anyone know of having to delay getting the band because of a cold??

Thanks!

Stephanie

If you had a full on cold I dont think it would be a good idea to go under anaesthetic, but Sep 4 is still a while away, you should be able to be over a cold by then.

Were you treated for the sinus infection with antibiotics? That should have cleared everything up quick smart, otherwise it could just linger and linger.

my pcp gave me antibiotics for the infection but I think it might be a really bad allergy attack.. Benadryl seems to be helping a lot... I really dont want to reschedule though.. The plane tickets are non refundable.. LOL :D

I got an infection in my leg last week and am on antibiotics. Then two days ago I got a cold. I am scheduled for surgery on September 6th with Dr. Ortiz. I hope this clears up by next week, it would be a nightmare to try to reschedule. My wife and I have non refundable tickets and we are sending our five year old son to stay with my sister in St. Louis for the week.

I better feel a whole lot better before surgery. I just mowed the lawn and it feels like I am coughing up a lung. So I am sure that my current condition would keep me from surgery.

I guess if I have to reschedule then my wife and I have a nice vacation alone in San Diego. I am back at school on the 11th, so I would not be able to reschedule again for months.

Most surgeons won't operate if you're sick or have had a recent illness. the best thing to do is call the surgeon's office and follow his/her instructions.

I suposed I should call them even though I am feeling soooo much better now that that cold front finally blew thru!!! Major weather changes always throw my allergies in a loop...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
