AAAWWW, thanks guys. Yup heading into those 40's now!! But never felt better!! I was kinda hoping to just let it slip by, but when I logged on Sunday morning, there it was beside my name......41!!!!!

My family helped me clean up the yard getting ready for fall/winter then we went to DQ for ice cream. I'm not a huge ice cream person, but I LOVE DQ. I had a LARGE choc dip cone. Ate the whole damn thing...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME....LOL:hungry: .

I have a question for you guys.....

Every now and then I get this funny feeling. It's like a mild burning feeling running down. Kinda from the back of my throat to around where I think my band is. Its not in my throat or my stomach. I am not experienced with the feeling. Would it be heartburn? or refulx? or something. What do you guys think? It is not really painful, just a very mild burning sensation.

Thanks

Happy Birthday Cloe! :humble: :music:

The burning feeling you are having could be acid reflux. Did you try taking an antacid? If it helps, it might help you determine what it could be.

Hey Cloe. I think I remember you saying you've never had heartburn, right? Cause that's what it sounds like. Start taking Tums!

Thank you for the replies. So last night I took a tums, and yes that seemed to make it subside. So then my next question is...If I never had heartburn before, then how come I have it now. Is my band making me more sensitive? What exactly cause heartburn, should I be watching what I eat?

And thank you again for all the Birthday Wishes!!:(

I'm sure you'd disagree... but most would say you're probably too tight. chocolate, spicy foods, minty things.. can give me heartburn. Not that I don't eat them, but I remember "Oh yeah... that sometimes gives me heartburn when I eat it" afterwards.

I think you should email Dr. Cobourn. I'd say email Marie, but... :(

Just ask him what he thinks of it. You definitely don't want more of a fill, I don't think, if this is happening as is. And you don't want to not tell them that it's happening, cause it *could* cause problems.

Do a search on here for 'heartburn', and I'm sure there'll be many threads telling why it's so bad. (for us)

Hey Cloe,

I'm doing something that you had said you did... with the colourful, shaped Post-It notes...when you were doing Opti-fast. I thought it was such a good idea, I went out and got some, and now on my bedroom wall, I have 29 pink flowers, to mark down the 29lbs I would like to lose before Xmas! (and with each pound, I'm going to take down one (or even a half of one))

Thanks for the idea!

LOL....I have a vision of you plucking a petal of each flower every .0001 pounds.:girl_hug:

BTW, thanks for the info, I started researching heartburn and got some answers. I will cut out a few things and call Dr. C and hopefully get a handle on it. It's only happened a few times and it's definately not real bad, but I don't want it to become a problem either. So, thanks!!

I did actually rip off 0.6 of a flower today! I don't want to round up or down! LOL

Yeah, keep on top of that heartburn. I'm not one to be chastising you or anything, so I hope you don't think I was! I've been getting heartburn now and then for the last couple weeks too. :girl_hug:

Btw, did you get my PM?!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
