Suggestions For A Good Pre-Op(Pre-Liquid) Diet To Lose Weight Before Being Considered For Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I'm in the beginning stages of a WLS program for VSG. We need to lose at least 5% of our TBW. I was wondering if anyone had a good diet plan? We haven't met with a nutritionist yet and won't for awhile, so I would like to do all I can right now. *:)

Weight Watchers, especially the online one allows you to eat anything. Online you can adapt your own recipes. www.Hungry-Girl.com has a lot of recipes that work with Weight Watchers.

My diet during my 3 months of visits with the NUT consisted of 3 meals, with 3 oz of lean meat, veggies and a fruit. No snacking between meals, but was allowed a glass of milk 3 times a day, and I supplemented one of those with some Protein powder. I'm down 40 lbs (little over 10% of my TBW) since my first NUT visit in January. My bariatric center didn't make me lose weight, but they wanted me to start changing my lifestyle so I'd be successful after surgery.

I say any diet will work for you, as long as you are determined to make it work! Good luck :)

I would cut portion sizes down a lot and have basically Protein and veggies, try to skip the carbs if possible. This will help decrease calories as well as burning body fat. BTW< your stomach will shrink and your liver will decrease in size too. So it helps with a fatty liver. ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
