Damn its expensive in the States!

Recommended Posts

I am an American living right now in the middle east Amman, jordan to be precise. I got my lap Band done in a first class hopsital where all the nurses were babying me in a quiet first class room, by an American physician who worked for the mayo Clinic, Lap band cost me $6000. He charges 20 dollars for each visit for a fill in so I pay 40 bux a month. If I have to get it done through floro imaging it costs 70 bux! And I only did that twice within the past 3 months. My physician moved to Jordan because while working in the Mayo clinic he met the late King hussein while he was being treated for cancer. The late king liked him so much he personally paid for all his expenses and got him a top position at the hopsital. I mean I cant say more than enough about this dr he is ausumn. I was 280 when I got this done last may and now I am 200, and still losing weight. If you can afford to stay away from the states for 6 months to a year and see a beautiful historic country you have to come. I am loving it here, just going to the Dead Sea for a swim is more than enough for me!

I visited Amman back in the 80s and loved it. Took a dip in the Dead Sea too. You're fortunate to live there. Enjoy every moment while you can!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
