You will know if you have or develop a leak. Just take it easy and take in very small amounts if it makes you feel better, take in less htan recommended at one time, BUT remember that will be longer you will have to eat/drink to make it up.

Good luck.

PS - Maybe the few hundred extra for another barium swallow would be worth it - in regards to calming your nerves.?

You will be fine. I was afraid of a leak too but look at me now. I'm doing so good. Just follow your doc's advice and you should be ok.

Ironically I was in the exact dame boat as u. I even almost got dehydrated because I was scared to drink water. I followed my docs diet to a t....it was all liquid. Then on wed 5.9.12 the doctor told me I was pretty much out of the woods for that. I was 9 days post op...he explained that my stomach being stapled was like rubber band ...instead of leak it would kind of bounce (I'm not describing it in doc terms..sorry) so he said u won't hurt it you will throw up before any of that.

Breath and relax. You need to drink your fluids being dehydrates can get you back in the hospital just as easily. Think positive. Best of luck.

You'll be ok, stay hydrated and try to relax this is your time and your journey. Hugs
