Howdy everyone!!!

My name is Brandy and I had the sleeve on April 23rd. I am 31 years old and I have a daughter who is 6 and a lovely husband who is very supportive of my weight loss journey. I'm on my last week of liquid only and am sooo excited about all of the good things I have seen on this forum. I started thinking about getting the sleeve done about two years ago. I had been working out with a trainer for over a year and only lost 20lbs because of my eating...I would do good for a little bit and then give in to temptation..I knew I needed help. :) At that time I was 275lbs. My husband then lost his job and was out of work for 2 years. I thankfully had a job (I'm a teacher :) and was able to support us, but because of stress and not working out anymore over the next year I ballooned up to where right before the surgery I was 310lbs. I felt awful...tired all the time...depressed about being so heavy and just all around poopie. In January I got a call from my doctor that my insurance policy had changed..that they now covered the surgery without a six month doctor diet...I jumped at the chance. I had wanted to have the surgery in March, but issues with the insurance had me waiting until April 23rd. All in all with the pre diet and the short time I have had after, I have lost 40lbs and am lower then I have been in almost 3 years!!! I'm a so excited. :)

I am looking for advice, help, support from this group as well as to be a support for others who are taking this journey. I am totally looking forward to seeing a skinnier, healthier me. :)

Hi! I was sleeved April 17, and my doc had me on a 3 week liquid diet. Tomorrow I go to soft foods, and I'm really having mixed feelings about it. I haven't had any problems at all with getting too full, being hungry, having nausea, aversion to Protein Drinks, etc. Maybe I'll have some insight for you about the transition in the next couple of days. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
