Candyman, good for you man! People, especially family, don't realize the pain and suffering we go through with our obesity. to them it's like if we lose weight we may look better, or something. . . i don't know. . . only thing, and I hate to put a damper on the whole thing. Write something out and put it into an envelop to be opened in the case of something. . . put it up, if you live alone, put it onto your table addressed to whoever. . i do this everytime i have surgery, or even go on a vacation . . . cause you never know. Good luck and all will be ok. . .now watch who'll get beat up! lol

It is hard when you don't have people behind you. I told my husband after the fight for over a year and tons of research, I just told him that i have set a person goal for me to get to _____ weight by Feb 1st if I don't get there on my own I need help and I am scheduling my date for surgery. Well that is what I did. Now 45 lbs lighter it is the best thing I have done fore myself and i feel great for sticking up for myself too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
