What Types Of Clothes Got You Through The Rapid Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

I just went through my closet last night. I have *piles* of clothes in every size from 12-20 - all of which I cannot get into (YET!). I have been carrying them around for years through every move because I just couldnt let them go. Sick, I know. Now, I am kinda glad I didnt! I get sleeved in July and hopefully after every size is too big, I can give them away to someone else who needs them on their journey! Can't wait! :0) Other than that, I LOVE garage sales, thrift stores, and have found some on Craigslist from another girl who had lost a lot of weight. You will get through it!

Oh my gosh! We must be twins! I also have piles of clothes albeit with a slightly larger range of sizes (around 12-24, but only very few 12s). I'm already down to 20, and starting to move towards an 18. Almost as much fun as rediscovering old favorites is emptying out my closet of the clothes that are too big for me so I can GIVE THEM AWAY - not stuff them in storage for when I regain the weight. No matter how well my diet's gone in the past, I've always kept some bigger clothes somewhere on the side, because I somehow knew that the weight would eventually come back. At the same time, I was optimistic enough to save all those smaller size clothes. Now I'm really happy I did that!

Omgosh...it was like Christmas! Box after box and after I was done, I wanted to go into surgery tomorrow! I cannot wait to wear all those clothes again. We will NOT gain it back this time, girl - this time it's FOREVER! Health and happiness - just like we deserve!!!! :)

I work in a trendy/professional environment- so frumpy sloppy "waiting it out" isnt going to cut it for me.

Belts, wrap dresses and skirts are my go-to items now. Oh and if you have nice high end clothing- make friends with a tailor.

I bought some nice wide strechy belts at Target- the trendy kind- and now all my clothing that looks baggy or unprofessional, I just belt and wear a light cardigan over. It gives me this nice cinched in waist and will work until it gets too hot to wear a cardi.

Skirts are awesome because you can wear them a bit higher if they are tight and low on the hips if they are loose. I live in pencil skirts (Target has ones for $30) and I can wear the size 18 even though im really more of a 14/16 now. You can get a skirt taken in at a tailor for much cheaper than you can a pair of pants.

A nice strechy cartigan can be worn open when its still a bit tight, but looks great buttoned in a few months/few pounds later. Get a spray tan for your stems and a good push-up and you are va-va-voom sex kitten in no time! I call it my sexy librarian look! :)

Wrap dresses are also a must. You can have an XL and ride that sizing all the way down to a M if you are lucky.

Luckily I have from size 14 to 24/26 My current size. I at least have an idea at what weight what clothing size will be so I can at least tell myself that once I am at 195 lbs. I can start buying new clothes, which is almost 100 away. I usually buy inexpensive clothes, especially since surgery is soon. I intend on staying in my 1x until I'm a small xl, and buy tops every two sizes or more. I feel its the pants that tend to look a little sloppy when they are too big, but if I do go to school this semester than I will be forced to look half way decent. I can get jeans for $10 on sale so I can afford to buy some jeans in sizes 12, 10, 8. Once I get near to my size goal thats when I intend on paying a bit more for some super trendy clothes.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
