Recommended Posts

hello all...

Im 13 days away from when my surgery is scheduled for, tomorrow i go for my pre op tests at the hospital. today i called the surgeons office to see where i was in the insurance process and found out that insurance company wanted a psy evaluation which my dr sent but had to be resent today and they also wanted a letter of things ive done this past year for weight loss. Now im losing my mind could they mess up my plans of having surgery the 13th???

Surgeons office doesnt seem worried about it but im freaking out. Ive logged on to Horizon BC/BS to watch my authorization but all it says in pending more information..

Omg could this all not happen and im so close. anyone have anything similar to give me some ensight

Keep the faith. If it does get pushed back, its ok. Tryand stay positive. Its going to work out just keep after your surgeons office. And keep track of all conversations. Who you talked to, date, time, etc....good luck

I have bcbs of nc. My doctor office says that they love bcbs because they are very pro bariatric surgery. You should be good especially if the doctor office is not worried. Good luck

Give her a hint and call her everyday! This is your health!! Ask them who they use to get the psych clearance and call them yourself. Don't let some miserable person in an office postpone your surgery!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
