My Nosy Boss.....

Recommended Posts

I iike "plumbing issues" LOL!! I just said "abdominal surgery" that I needed to have done. I think people figured it out though, because my husband (who works at the same school) has had some people come up to him and discuss how great it is I'm getting weight loss surgery...??? Pretty bold, I think. He didn't know how to respond, poor guy!

If he's a guy just tell him it's a female thing and then he'll go on lock down. Nothing ever gets a man to shut up so fast as when you talk about girl stuff, LOL. I did this once and my boss tripped all over himself. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen. BUT on the serious, just say "thank you for your conceren but I'd rather keep it a private matter." If your boss knows the rules (HIPPA) and HR he'll leave it alone. Good luck.

Hi,

I worked in Health Care for a number of years, and NO you do not have to tell him what kind of surgery you are having. There are what they call HIPA rules and he does NOT have the right to ask you. You have a right to privacy when it comes to your Health Care.

Just tell him you are having surgery and that is all you need to tell him. If he asked tell him that under HIPA rules you are not required to tell him. That should keep him quite.

Hope that helps,

Suzanne

Suzanne is technically correct, but the gossip mill being what it is, you will only stimulate everybody's curiosity by being secretive. When that happens, you are leaving the door wide open to let someone's imagination come up with a big juicy reason why you are undergoing such a secret procedure. That someone who feeds the gossip mill for you will also probably be somebody who is not your best friend and who does not have your best interests at heart. I'd give them a simple answer of some sort and let the matter drop. JMHO By the way, best of luck!

Ted

I told the person I use his office space and he was really happy. He says this will be the best thing I have ever done. And he's always telling me how he didn't recognize me from behind. LOL He is always telling me how good I'm looking. I just say yep, thank you very much.

I love my new body, and it's coming a long really great!

I actually talk openly about my surgery. If people want to be judgemental then let them, I love the choice I made and if they think I took the easy way out, i tell them how wrong they are and smile. <_<

Hi,

I was like you. I always told people what I had done. I thought it was my opportunity to educate them if they wanted to know. Congrat to you.

Hugs,

Suzanne

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
