6 Days Post Op And Having Diarrhea Issues

I had my surgery last Wednesday. My surgeon said I can start full liquids now. It just seems like every single thing that goes in comes out within about 10 minutes. Is this normal?? Sorry that this is TMI for some people!!! I have also been getting lightheaded. I was thinking that is just because the lack of protein the first few days??

I experienced the same thing. I am now having the opposite happening now. I think the loose stools are due to all of the clear liquids and your body adusting to the change from the surgery. I would rather have things pass through than the other alternative, because I feel that when I don't go like I should it hinders my wt. loss.

Yes, I had the same thing the entire week of clear liquids, and even a couple days after when I moved to full liquids. I figured liquid in, liquid out! I also was completely worn out and sometimes lightheaded by the end of that first week. The diarrhea does go away once you move to mushies and solid food. And bit by bit your energy will return. Hang in there!

I had diarrhea because I became lactose intolerant after surgery. Perhaps try avoiding milk and dairy for a day or two and see if it improves?

Yes it is very common to have all those symptoms. It will get better and your body has gone through a LOT! so just be patient with yourself.

Here is the question though? Is it good to go or not go? I havent went in seven days. The changes our body is adjusting to is incredible.

Thanks for the replies!! I am glad to know I am not alone with it. I thought I knew what all to expect but I guess there is a lot to learn!

I did just try a little tomato Soup and it went RIGHT through me.....I think I am going to take your advice and try to go with lactose free stuff for a couple days!!!

Yep.. can relate! It is getting better, but it has been an interesting 2 weeks. :)

Same problems for me as well. It went on for six weeks and then we realized I was having intolerance issues with the Protein drinks. My body doesn't not do well on them at all! I have finally found some that work for me, but I focus now on getting my protein needs met through my food.

Hang in there! It will improve.
