How Long After Surgery Until You Had A Bm?

It's been four days since surgery for me, and still a no go. I started miralax on day two, but it hasn't helped. I have been able to pass gas, but that's it. At what point should I become worried? Thanks, and sorry if TMI.

I wouldn't worry I didnt go for 7 days!

I myself remember it being a few days.... i didnt have anyhting in my system before.....only had a jello once in a while after........im in week 5 and now... i get one every 2 days........ sorry i dont have a medical type answer.... but as to my experience....it was a few days too

About three days for me. I would not take the miralax right now unless your doctor recommended it. After I started pooping again, it was a couple of weeks before things firmed up and I got back to my one poop per day schedule.

I think it was 4 days. I have only had 3 semi-solid ones since surgery 12 days ago. I pretty much expect this until I start introducing solid foods again. I'm on liquids for another week.

Pleeeeeeease check with your doctor about a stool softener...I had concrete bowels and OMG I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital, but it passed LOL!!!!!!!!

three or four days after surgery was the first and it's been every other day or so since.

thank you for posting this!!! i'm four days out and still haven't had a bowl movement! i hear and fell everything moving inside but that's it. i know we are only on liquids and jellos, but i would have thought that i would've gone at least a little bit.

doc told me to take a stool softener or milk of magnesia about 5 days out of surgery so I'll do that in the next coming days if nothing happens!

I just think we are all different and our bodies are going to be different. I've been constipated my whole life so it's not completely different for me. i was just hoping that after this surgery it would get better.
