Were Your Eyes Wide Open?

Recommended Posts

I think I was pretty well-informed, but there have been surprises along the way. I thought I had my "head hunger" under control, but I'm fighting it now, again. It's a long battle, but one I'm determined to win. I thought I'd lose more slowly than I have lost weight. THAT is a pleasant surprise! :) I also thought it would be easier, but I've battled a couple of really big issues in the last 4 months that are not WLS related. I'm surprised at how much I want to comfort myself/bury the problem with food.

On the good side, I'm much more energetic than I thought I'd be at this stage, and I'm doing more exercise than I thought I'd be able to accomplish.

I think everyone's journey is different, but we all learn from one another.

Good luck with your journey!! :)

I felt very prepared for what I was going to go through. I did alot of research and made the best choice for me. I met 2 surgeons and chose the one I felt most comfortable with. We do not have to jump through as many hoops down here as you guys do with insurance companies paying.

I was prepared all the complications post surgery. It seems the only thing I was not Iprepared for was how easy MY recovery was, I had very little pain. Recovery almost felt too easy, but I have had to learn my sleeve like everyone else.

It is definitely the best decision I made for myself.

yes for the most part, life is pretty normal these days. I can still eat plenty of junk food if that's what I choose to do. Of course, I know I will gain weight back when I do that.

There are some differences. When I was first sleeved, anything with sugar made me very nauseous. I wish that was still true.

I can guzzle Water, but not if it's really cold. I really prefer room temp Water.< /p>

I knew I was a food addict but as royboy said, now you realize all this time you have to fill without food. And how much time you spent thinking about food. I have already made some less optimal choices on soft foods phase, allowing in some treats like chocolate. I have felt guilty that my calories now in soft phase have been 800-900 calories. I am thinking that might be too much.

I du my research before habd, knew I had food issues and this would be hard work. I think what I was not prepared for is the fatigue.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
