Tuesday Is My Surgery Date

Recommended Posts

I am so excited, I was scheduled for 1/17 but my surgeon had to change the date and he moved it up to 1/10/12. Wow it is time now.

I am doing and feeling great so I am ready ( I think) I am so happy it is almost here.

I have one question. My sister is taking me for my surgery. Can someone tell me how long the surgery takes? It is something I forgot to ask my surgeon.

Congrats on having a date and GOOD LUCK!!!! I think my surgery took about 1 hour and half. I guess it depends on the surgeon etc.

Congratulations!! My surgery was about 2hrs but then they put you in recovery for a while before they transfer you to your room. I would say 3hrs to be on the safe side. Oh and the best advise I got was WALK, WALK, WALK as soon as possible! Good luck!!

Sending good wishes and healing vibes out for you tomorrow. Your beginning mantra must be Rest, Sip, Walk, repeat ...

Tomorrow for me also - as of right now it is 8:00a - expecting a call from the hopsital this afternoon to confirm check in time.

Yes, I am nervous - but know I am doing the right thing for my health.

Good luck and as they say see you on the losers side of the bench!

That is an exciting surprise to have your surgery moved up a week. As I anxiously counted down the days to my surgery, I hoped I would get that kind of phone call. Good Luck!! Check in when you can to tell us how everything went.

Thank you all for the great hints and well wishes. I love how supportive you all are. I am so excited.

Janerose - I will be praying for you as well. See you on the other side of the surgery verrrry soon.

Lisa, Cheri, Divas and Liliana - I think I got it in my head - REST, SIP, WALK, REST. SIP. WALK, REST,SIP, WALK. I will let you know how it all went soon.

Patti

Mine is on the 11th. Oh boy. I'm getting just a tad freaked out because I HATE to be all helpless and invalided -- even if it is only a few days. Having an IV is okay, but a catheter? Bleech!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
