I was sleeved on 12-19-11. I've been able to get in my 3 Protein Drinks, at least 64 oz. of liquids and my supplements from day 3. I'm on my 17th day post-op. I still drink 3 Protein drinks a day. I've added some mushies, like oatmeal, bananas, yogurt, baby food, Peanut Butter, and pureed split pea Soup. The problem is, since I added mushies, I'm ALWAYS hungry! No, I don't drink and eat. What can I do to feel satiated? Or is this just my body adjusting to another change (adding mushies)?

That is a lot. I had mine on 12/12/11 and had my 3 week check up yesterday and I can only eat about 3 table spoons at a meal. I never drank the protien drinks after surgery. I just started to have one now and than. You need to only eat you 3 meals a day and 1 snack. I would make sure I let the doctor's know all that your feeling too. Good luck to you.

I think what you are feeling is either head hunger or acid / gas. Try to put yourself on a schedule. Eat/drink your Breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you want, have a Protein snack mid morning and afternoon (spreading your Protein consumption throughout the day). I need to eat protein about every 4 hours (just a little will do me). If it hasn't been 4 hours since I ate, and I feel "hungry", I tell my sleeve to shut-up, it's not hungry. Then I take a GASX strip, drink something warm, and the feeling goes away. As long as you are meeting your protein goals and are meeting your Fluid goals to stay hydrated, you really AREN'T hungry - it is just your body or your mind sending you false signals.

This is all part of the learning processs. It will get better.

The foods you mentioned don't sound like a lot of Protein. Be sure to eat your 3 meals a day and start with protein. Be sure to wait the 30 minutes after eating to allow the protein to last longer in your tummy, telling you its full and not hungry. The mushies go through pretty quickly, so its not sitting in the tummy long. Drink protein in between meals and the hungries should subside. I like the Special K Protein Drink. Its only 5g of protein, but it gives the Water a good taste and helps keep protein in me to keep away the hungries. Hang in there!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
