Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am having terrible pre-op jitters!! I am leaving without a companion on my voyage and am a little nervous about after care and if it is necessary to have someone to help look after me??? Please, in desperate need of reassuring, comforting feed back!! Thanks!

Wow, you're brave! I've gone into surgery on my own before, but I've never had to take care of myself by myself after. How long will you stay in Mexico after your surgery? I've heard others compare this to a c-section on healing and I was able to drive myself a week after my c-section but someone drove me home from the hospital. If this is your only option just be really careful driving back up north and take lots of breaks to rest- even over night if you have to. Stop over in Castaic or Valencia.

Is your surgery the 13th or is that the date you are leaving? I'm leaving the 12th for pre-op and then surgery on the 13th by Dr. Aceves in Mexico. I'm so excited. There's nothing to be nervous about. These doctors do these surgeries all the time :) Hang in there and think about how you will be feeling and looking a month from now!

I'm beyond excited! I've got all of my Soups and Protein Drinks bought and ready go to for when I get back! I've made a list of all I need to remember to bring with me... I'm so ready for this! This worst part is the waiting around now. I'm anxious to get it done and over with! I'm so excited for all of the cute clothes I will get to wear this spring :) Where are you from? Have you done all of your post surgery shopping?

I bought some Soups from Safeway and are putting them in the freezer so when I come home I will just have to blend them and I ave a whole bunch of Crystal Light. I bought a bunch of gas X strips and that's about it. I'm clueless as to what else I will be needing. I'm from Modesto, California. Maybe we will see eachother when were out there. What hotel are you staying at

?

I'm going to be in Mexicali. Too bad we won't be at the same place! I bought a bunch of Soups from Fred Meyer and Trader Joe's and I've also got the Premir chocolate Protien shakes, the Isopure in chocolate, some of the EAS Carb Control shakes and a few of the Muscle Milk Light Protien drinks. I generally cook everything from scratch, but I can't see cooking 2 oz of Soup or having so much waste. What does your post-op diet look like?

Hi everyone!! I am doing GREAT!! I had surgery last friday and the first night was horrible. i threw up blood twice. Which no one had mentioned anything about so of course I thought i was bleeding internally and freaking out! After that I was great... just slept a lot! I was up and walking around the next day with no complications. I came home on Monday and went to work on Wed. I feel amazing for just having surgery. LOL. I must say though Dr. Kelly was awesome came to check up on me almost every day I was there including the day at my hotel room! I have already lost 13 pounds, and averaging a pound a day. I can't beleive it!.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
