Food Finds

Recommended Posts

I always figure I'm the last to discover new products or foods-but just in case I'm not I thought I would share two foods that (for me at least) are very WLS friendly.

The first is PB2. This is Peanut Butter with the fat removed and it tastes like REAL/REGULAR peanut butter.

Regular PNB has 190 Calories per 2 Tablespoons, 16 grams of fat and 8 grams of Protein

PB2 has 45 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 5 grams of protein for 2 Tlb.

It comes powdered (you add Water to make pnb consistency). I put it dry into my Protein shakes to add flavor and protein. On their website www.bellplantation.com they give recipes.< /p>

The first time I ordered it from Amazon although it was more expensive. The next time I ordered from www.netrition.com for a better price. I ordered a chocolate/peanut butter also.

The other food I discovered since surgery is WASA Crisp'n Light crackerbreads. Kind of like a cracker but MUCH larger-they only have 20 calories each 0 fat and only 4 grm carbohydrates.

They are whole grain, fat free and actually yummy. I have topped them with cheese, or peanutbutter or chicken salad for a meal. Or had them with Soup or salad. These I just bought at the store. But you can check them out at www.wasa-usa.com

I really like sandwich thins. These are for when you're farther out from surgery. Now they make mini sandwich thins. Not many carbs or calories and you can make an itty bitty sandwich. which is the perfect size for a sleeve tummy.

Hy-Vee has the PB2 in the organic section and is probably cheaper if you have that store near you.

You can also get peanut flour on Netrition.com... has even more protein... check the labels, they have a couple of brands and one has more than the other. Just add Water, or for a treat add SF Syrup. They also carry Bobs Red Mill low carb baking mix... you can make pancakes, muffins, cake, pizza dough... high Protein and low carbs and pretty good! Most natural mix available.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
