I'm New Here, And Considering Jerusalem Hosptal

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm brand spankin' new here, and considering Jerusalem Hospital. I know there are many posts floating around about this, that, and the other, but I really want to get to some people who have had, or are going to have the surgery there. I have been approved for March 1st, but am trying to get work things in order before I submit my deposit.

By the way, I'm a 33yo Woman from Texas, 5'9", and 275 :-( I have no ACL in my left knee, and my feet hurt because of my weight....along with many other things. I dream about having this surgery, and how it could improve my quality of my life. I'm active by nature, and love hiking, dancing, biking, swimming, etc.

Enough about me, I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

~Shannon

:welcome:

Hi Shannon, welcome to the forum! I did not use Jerusalem Hospital, but I did go to Tijuana MX for my surgery and I had a wonderful experience. I hope you hear back from other folks who have went there, and good luck on your weight loss journey.

:)

Thank you for the wonderful welcome both of you. I guess what I really want to know is....were you ever uncomfortable? Do you felt like you made the right choice by having the surgery in Mexico, and how do you make the best informed decision on which surgeon to use?

I went to Mexico as well - with Dr Kelly so not the same place. Mexico was a perfect choice for me and I would do it again in a heart beat. No issues what so ever for me. Cannot comment on the facility you are looking at but can give you feedback on Dr Kelly if you want it.

Best wishes on your journey - mine has been amazing!

First of all, congrats on all the weightloss!!! I hear good things about Dr. Kelly, so if you could send me his info, I would be most appreciative. I'd love compare my choices.

Cheers!

I just had surgery there with Dr Almanza Nov 29th. I had a wonderful experience and was treated very good. I made wonderful friends at the recovery house that I still keep in touch with and will forever. All in all it was great. If you have any more questions let me know. I went by myself btw :)

I'm headed to Mexico at the end of January. I cannot wait. I'm having Dr. Almanza do my surgery as well. I know this is a great decision for me. I have fought and fought with insurance companies and i'm tired of things being out of my control. I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Almanza and a lot of other doctors in Mexico.

I had mine done there and things went great. I was up walking around the night after my surgery. The only thing that i had trouble with was the stuff they clean the floors with killed my allergies. It is very stong and made it hard for me to breath.

Hi Shannon, I went to Jerusalem Hospital on October 14, 2010 and had my sleeve surgery with dr. Ponce de leon. My husband went with me and we were both treated well. It was different going to a strip mall to have surgery but I was never nervous or scared. The facility was very clean and everyone was professional. They fed and had a place for my husband to sleep when we were there. It all was included in the price. I used Christi at Successfully Slimmer as my coordinator. The recovery house was just fine. They were there to give you what you needed to make you comfortable. All in all it was a great experience and I love to tell my story to my friends and family. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me.

Good Luck!

Terri

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
