A Vst Affect I Was Not Expecting

Recommended Posts

I have been sleeved for almost 10 weeks now. I have noticed that since the procedure I have not had to have.

Since leaving the hospital I have not had to have any kind of pain killers, even in hospital I didnt really need them but was told to keep taking them.

Pre-surgery I was also having a pain killer for one thing or another, headaches, aches and pains. I have not had a headache since surgery and only the occasional aches and pains from when I work out too much but nothing that requires pain killers.

Anyone else had this experience?

Yes, but I have never heard anyone else on the forum mention this wonderful result. I have had terrible knees for years. The right one has been replaced, but is still uncomfortable at times. Prior to my sleeve, my left knee ached all the time and I took 1800 to 2400 mg of ibuprofen daily to barely make it through the day. My doc had also switched me to Mobic for about a year prior to surgery. The first time I walked in the hall at the hospital after my surgery, I could not believe it. I told my daughter who was with me that my left knee didn't hurt at all. Walking was absolutely painless in my knee joint. After I got home, I researched on the internet, and there was some discussion that the grehlin produced by the old stomach has been linked to arthritis in some research studies. I didn't talk about my pain relief very much because I didn't want to jinx it. But still to this day (almost 8 months out) my knee does not hurt. I have had no anti-inflammatory medication since April.

I have lost a total of 105 lbs and my general overall discomfort is negligible. Life is much more enjoyable now and I owe most of it to my sleeve. Thank you, God and Dr. Aceves. Kahe

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
