Freezing after about 3.5 months post vertical sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am pre-op, but I used to freeze from the inside out. I would be the one at the beach all covered up - cold when it's 80 outside. I would drink hot liquids all day and take up to 3 HOT baths just to keep warm. Once I had my hyterectomy, that totally went away. This is why I wonder if being so cold after getting sleeved can be caused by a change in hormones, especially since the part of the stomach removed produces hormones. Just a thought...

Same here! I'm just a little less than 2 weeks post-op and already getting cold. I used to always be the one that was hot in a room, now my nose, fingers and toes seems to be cold all the time.

I'm on Iron tabs too and still freeze. 2 blankets, a quilt and an afghan on the bed along with a heated mattress pad. I now sleep with underpants, undershirt and socks most of the time as well. A sweater is my uniform at work now almost everyday.

I posed a possible reason as to why here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/27063-is-getting-cold-after-weight-loss-result-of-more-blood-vessels/page__fromsearch__1

If this IS true then there is nothing we can do until and IF the body readjusts the blood vessels.

Oh the irony! It is my lunch time and I (as usual) came here to read as much as possible. I have my personal heater on high and am wearing a sweater and a blanket. Others in the room are in short sleeves. I have not (knocking on wood profusely) started losing my hair yet.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
