HI THERE,

I'M A NEWBIE ALSO. MY 1st APPT W/MY DR WAS 10-10-11. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO GET MY LAB WORK & KAISER'S WT MNGMNT CLASS. THEN MEET BACK WITH MY DR.

I WAS HOPING TO HAVE THE SURGERY NEXT MONTH, BUT TO MY SURPRISE, WITH KAISER SO CAL, YOU HAVE TO TAKE A 12WK CLASS. THEN ONCE COMPLETED, I WILL BE REFERRED TO AN OUTSIDE FACILITY FOR SURGERY. SO, MY DR emailed ME TODAY TO GIVE ME A LIL INFO.....HE LET ME KNOW THAT MY SURGERY WOULDN'T BE FOR ABOUT TO 4-5 MONTHS OUT. AND THAT I'D BE IN THE HOSPITAL, TYPICALLY, 3-4 DAYS AND OFF WORK FOR 2-4 WEEKS. ALL THAT BEING SAID....I GUESS I HAVE TO LEARN TO "COOL MY JETS" A LITTLE AND BE PATIENT. I'M JUST SO EXCITED TO START MY NEW JOURNEY IN LIFE.

I know what you mean about how it is hard to wait. I am so bad at that. It does go by quickly though. I am already 9 weeks post-op, which sounds so weird. It doesn't seem like it could be that long already.

It was this time last year that I was unable to fit onto a rollercoaster at Cedar Point after waiting to ride it for four hours. If I went this weekend, I'd be able to ride everything thanks to lots of inches lost in my hip/butt area. :)

I hope your waiting goes quickly.

Welcome!!! I was referred back in August and I am now taking the required Options class. My suggestion to you is not to gain or lose weight until you are weighed on your first Options class. You are then advised (aka to lose 10%) by the time you finish the class and see the sugeon. Also if you really want this, make sure you go to the class thats available the first and go to all of the required classes. (I choose the class that was availble asap, if not I would have had to wait another month) Stay on top of things cause things tend to get delayed at Kaiser if you are not. Let me know if you need more info!!!!

Time will go by quickly enough - but it seems a bit over the top. I started in July 2011 and hope to have the a date in November or early December. Good luck and have patience

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
