This is my first post on this website. I must admit I have been a "creeper" for a couple of weeks. I have really enjoyed reading posts from everyone with different experiences. I am currently 18 days post op. I was sleeved on 9.19.2011. Prior to my surgery I lost 25 pounds, since my surgery I have lost an additional 25 pounds.

I am currently in the "soft foods" stage. In the grand scheme of things my recovery has gone fairly smoothly. I only needed pain meds the day of surgery and nothing after that. I had some issues with gas buildup early on but that all passed within a couple days of surgery. I have noticed that EVERYTHING tastes different to me now.

This last week I have been adding in more "real food" to my diet, chicken salad blended smooth in the food processor, cottage cheese, saltines. I have now been experiencing pain after just a few bites. 3 saltines and 2 tablespoons of chicken salad and I am in pain. Is that the full feeling people are talking about?

Although I am thrilled with my results so far I seem to have hit the dreaded WEEK 3 STALL and my scale has not budged in days. How do I break out of this stall? I am trying to "snack" a little today to see if I can get a couple extra calories in hoping that will maybe kickstart the weight loss again.

I know that this is just the beginning of my long journey to the new me and I need to be patient, I just hope that I can get thru this stall and keep it going. blink.gif

Welcome and we all wish you the best as you start your new adventure.

Don't get discouraged, we all have the stall at least a few times. I've been at 210 for about a month now and really, really want to get below 200 pounds so bad I can taste it.

Stick with it, it only gets better from here on out!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
