I got my sleeve done 11 days ago, on September 19th. The weight already seems to be coming off pretty well. I did two weeks of Optifast prior to surgery, so between that and the 11 days since being sleeved, I've lost 36 pounds! I've been dipping into my "old clothes" bins to find pants that fit decently. I have a feeling this is gonna be a fun ride!

Not that it's all sunshine and kittens. I'm still bouncing back and forth between episodes of high energy and episodes of heavy fatigue. I'm also having some issues with foam. Just a whole lotta foam in my stomach sometimes. If I burp, foam. Sometimes I end up spitting it out. Nasty. I'm thinking the foam might have something to do with the Multivitamins I'm taking. I got them from Bariatric Advantage, so you'd think they'd be good Vitamins, but all cases are different right?

Anyway, for now I'm mainly living off proten shakes and gatorade. Doc's got me on a blood thinner called Lovinox or somesuch, but only 4 days left of that. In fact, this coming Monday I advance out of the all-liquid diet into the mushy phase. Looking forward to some real-ish food!

Thanks! Like I said, I'm looking forward to that pureed stage. I have a few ideas as to some meals I can put together at that stage. I make a pretty fierce oatmeal. :-)

Good luck to you!

I too am just a few days further out than you. The pureed state is not as hard as it seems. I have found some great veggie Soups that I stick in the blender to puree it up. Campbells has a Southwest Potato Soup that is great. When you puree something like this, that has a lot of flavor, it doesn't feel like you are eating baby food.

I have read posts where people go out and buy baby food during this stage, just say no! I don't need food that bad. :D

Yogurt is also a great thing you get to add. I have always loved yogurt, and it is soooo much better than those Protein shakes.

Enjoy this stage, you are almost ready to get into the real food stage. I hit one step from that yesterday. I got to add thinly sliced deli meats and crackers. I will tell you that from my experience, it is almost harder than the pureed stage. This is where the real work starts because you really have to watch how much you eat.

You really can't eat near as much as you think. I had 1 1/2 slices of deli meat and 6 club crackers and was absolutely stuffed! Keep up the great work. You are doing great!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
