Has Anyone used New York Bariatric Group in Long Island

Recommended Posts

I have just recently switched my surgeon to the New York Bariatric Group in Long Island. I am going to be using Dr Andrade. Has anyone used this facility or any of the doctors? I found the information at stopobesityforlife.com .. they seem to be a great set of doctors and staff there so we will see in the next coming appointments..

Please feel free to give me any info or comments for ppl that have used this center

I've heard of them but I haven't gone there. I am in Long Island though. I go to Dr. Gohil at the Center for Bariatric Specialties in Syosset Hospital. I couldn't be more pleased with him and his office. They are so efficient and a pleasure to deal with. I had no trouble getting insurance approval at all and I'm scheduled for my surgery in 2 weeks. He really explains everything so well and just makes you feel at ease.

This is my second surgeon also. I had originally went to Dr. Cussatti near Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. Its closer to where I live. But they didn't take my insurance in network, only out of network, and I really didn't care for him all that much. He was more like a salesman than a doctor. He also changes practices and that didn't sit well with me. So I moved on and I'm so happy I did.

Good luck to you!

i have Fidelis Care NY (Medicaid) and this doctor accepts my insurance. I have everything completed, like all the clearance's you have to have from my previous doctor so I will be seeing dr Andrade on Oct 13 for the first time. She said if I have all my clearance's by the time of my appointment I will get my surgery date the same day b/c I already have everything done prior. I am very excited I have been on this journey since June 2011. I know a lot of people take a lot longer but I have researched this for over a year and I know this is the right thing for me.

I just haven't read any reviews online about this particular center only the ones on there website. I was just checking here to see if anyone had used them.

Good Luck on your upcoming surgery... please post how you felt immediately after surgery that is what I am most nervous about..

Does fidelis require you to get on a diet before surgery?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
