Kickboxing at 4 weeks??

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 8/17 and I'm sooooooooo READY to hit the gym for some Kickboxing. I've been reading posts and some say 6 weeks some say sooner. I've emailed my patient coordinator but haven't gotten a response yet. I feel like my loss has been a little slow so I'm ready to "get this weightloss party started".

I don't have any pains or issues (other than the weird pain by my belly button when I make certain movements).

My doc gave me the go ahead at 4 weeks to start kickboxing. I waited until 6 weeks just to make sure because I was still a little sore here and there. Don't start to hard too fast. Modify the class to suit your needs. :) ENJOY!

Way to go girl...I had surgery 07/06...but had many complications totally unrelated to VSG...I was walking after 2 weeks, as a former boxer...I had to get back into it...I was boxing again after 3 weeks....hang in there make sure to get your Protein in that REALLY helps the weight!!

Wow! :o If you ladies started kickboxing and boxing after 3-4 weeks, you must have capes and camis with a big red letter "S" on underneath your shirts! :D I am filled with admiration!

I used to box a little with my trainer (back in a previous thin, healthy time in my life) and did a tiny bit of kickboxing. I couldn't do it all the way because my lower back would go out. I loved both of them. I still have my gloves (red) and hope to get back to it. What an ausome workout!

Go for it! Post pictures!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
