Aww, I'm sorry. I was denied at first also. I never had to deal with insurance though. From day 1, my doctor said all he has to do is write them a letter detailing why I needed to convert and he thought I would be approved. I received a letter saying that I wasn't, that they needed more information. My doctor also received the letter as I was blind copied. He automatically sent them my whole chart showing all of my past visits from my lap band. A few weeks later, I was approved!

Good luck!

it is unfortunate that we need to be our own advocates.. I learned this the hard way many years ago.. I went into my surgeons office with letters of support from all of my physicians. That way they couldnt say we never got the fax, they never sent it etc... I know it is a lot of work but so is living with the band (as i have) and now soon to be with the sleeve. The people employed are only going to be as ambitious as they are paid to be and although it is sad it is true. I work in the medical field and it bother's me to admit but from a management perspective it is true... sort of like the rude person at the drive thru- if they were any smarter they would not be working flipping burgers.. ya know?? All I can say is a) be comfortable with your physician and his staff- B) if you have to take matters into your own hands legally they are YOUR medical records.. request them and go to another doctor OR contact your other physicians for letters of support so your surgeon doesnt have to... Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
