Ok, so I dropped everything else my surgeon needed a week ago Friday. I called the office today to ask when I should hear something about my approval. The woman said she won't even send it until like a week and a half before my surgery. My surgery date is September 19. I think that's ridiculous, I ran around like a crazy person getting everything done, and now they are just going to sit on my paper work until then? My other issue is I work out a hospital, and our schedules are done monthly. Right now the draft is out for next month and into October so I wrote my PTO days on there for my surgery. Problem is, if I am not approved and only find out after this schedule is out, I will need to use the PTO I put in for, because they will have already found coverage for my shift. I don't have a lot of PTO, and I am afraid that if I am denied and I appeal and do get approved, I won't have the vacation time for it because I was forced to use it already.

I dont' understand what the big deal is about sending it out now so I can plan accordingly.

You might want to call the office and tell them your situation. These Docs earn their living by doing surgery. They would hate to have a hole in the surgery schedule. Khy

Why would they wait to send your paperwork? Try not to fret. Hopefully they know what they are doing. My insurance company only takes 3 days to approve(Cigna). Plus, if you know you have all that is required, you shouldn't have a problem.

I pray it all works out for you!!!

I  am surprised you got a scheduled surgery date. Usually they won't

schedule it before getting the ins auth to do it. Call the scheduler at

your dr's office and explain your situation--kindly ask what they can do to get

the process going so you can arrange your work schedule for

recouperation. Good Luck!

Doc's offices do know how to put a rush on preapprovals. Obviously, they know what they are doing.

I really feel your panic! I am praying for you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
