Hi, there! I'm not in Florida, actually in the other corner (WA!) but my surgeon is using a 32. I've heard 32-34 is pretty standard. In the beginning of the surgery, I read that a lot of surgeons used the largest size, the 44, because they didn't want to restrict too much, but with years of research and outcomes, they've realized the smaller the better for long-term weight loss. Did he say why he is using such a large size??? Honestly, if it were me, I would demand a smaller size as you certainly don't want this to fail, or have to go back and have it done smaller later!!

Yes i asked him and he said because with the 44 there are less complications. He sews over the staple line so it will end up being a 42, but that is all he uses. I am almost finished with all my requirements so what do i do?

My surgeon, Dr. Webb, uses a 34fr, but he does not oversew the staple line.

mine is 28/32F. . .as far as what you should do? Honey you are the recipient of this sleeve, your paying for it, as a paying customer, you should receive what you want. Good luck

My Surgeon used a 40f oversown, he explained less complication in future w/acid reflux etc. Im happy w/his decision. But agree if above sleever if you are a self pay you should demand what you want. Well if not you do have to follow that Surgeon's requirements & what Ins approves.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
