This week....

Recommended Posts

I worked out 3 times this week, burning an average of 400-500 calories each workout session. Next week I hope to go to the gym at least 4 times, but I'm curious... should I be burning more than that each session??? This week I'm going to push for 700 calories each session. I'm worried that once the Fall semester starts in August that I won't have the time to even fit in 3 sessions a week because I have 6 classes (luckily they are electives; all but one- Statistics) and work! I am thinking about purchasing a Bowflex Treadclimber so I can at least get in 30 minutes a day (I'm going to go for exercising and studying at the same time lol). Any advice would be great! Thanks :)

I have found that having everything I need at home has helped a great deal in ensuring I'm doing what I need to do. No excuses!! I always say, with it right there with me, I know I can squeeze in at least 30 minutes. Well, of course that 30 minutes turns into more - and that's a good thing. :)

How many calories you need to burn for weight loss is dependent on how many calories you eat. Everyone is different, find what works for you and stick with it. I completely understand worrying about the semester starting. I am a graduate student. I actually didn't prioritize my workouts until graduate school. As an undergrad, I was on tons of meds and just kept sitting on my butt putting on weight. If you have to wake up earlier, do it. If you have to stop using this site quite as regularly, do it. I have found that waking up a bit early (and I, in my entire life, have never been a morning person) and immediately putting on your workout clothes and getting to it, really sets the tone for my day. I feel good, my mood is better overall and I have found some time from myself. In the morning when I get to class, I am much more alert and don't hit that tired slump about 2 o'clock. Try it for a couple of weeks this summer. You will see what I mean. You have a few months to develop the good habit now and make it a priority. The only way I can manage it, is to schedule it. I pretend like I have an appointment at the times that I set every week. When people try to fill that time slot with something, I just say I have an appointment and schedule it at a different time. Treat it like a class. You have a set time for that class and you are there for it. Good luck prioritizing, that is what undergrad is all about. Learning time management! WTG on what you have already accomplished!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
