Rock it!!! Doesn't it feel amazing?? Now the next time you are at the store pick up a 50lb or 75lb bag of dog food... it is an eye opener. I can freaking run on the treadmill now... at my starting weight there was no way that could happen!!! :)

That's funny that you mentioned that because I was doing that in the beginning with gallons of milk. Each gallon weighs 8 pounds. I have lost nearly 9 gallons already. It's fricken amazing!!!

I hit the 70 pound mark this morning and am inching closer to my first major milestone of 100 pounds. As each pound drops I feel like I am gaining a mile of self-confidence. I am no longer hiding behind people or furniture when meeting new people or chatting via video messaging and do not run when someone pulls out a camera.

I am refusing to purchase a new wardrobe until I am close to reaching my goal. I am trying out my domestic skills and am utilizing my sewing machine to take in certain clothes (work pants, etc.). Despite my middle school home economics sewing skills, I discovered the key to keeping my clothes staying up is a belt. I have never needed a belt before so this was something new to me. I thought I would have to get a pair of those rainbow-striped suspenders that old men wear but a belt works much better!

Me the month before surgery.

Thanks Susan! I grew up in Washington (Marysville) and went to UW. I moved to California four years ago but I'll always be a Seattle Girl (even if I don't do my daily Starbucks run anymore). GO HUSKIES!!

A big chunk of that came off the first two months. I have been averaging around 3 pounds a week (except last week, I lost nearly 5). I am trying to only lose 2-3 a week (for an average of 10-12 a month) so I don't have too much loose skin.

It has been an AMAZING ride. You will enjoy it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
